Spending time outdoors is something that Breanna and Tony love to do together. Ensuring that Arizona’s iconic saguaros were featured was a top priority. They visited Tucson Mountain Park just a few days prior to their session. Originally, they had selected a different location in Tucson. But after spending a little bit of time there, they messaged me asking if they could switch and have their winter engagement session in Gates Pass.
Breanna and Tony both have extremely demanding careers in the medical field. Tony is a Critical Care nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, helping patients that face a wide variety of issues that are often extreme and life-threatening. Breanna is a Senior Learning Specialist at the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine. She works with residents and fellows, preparing them for board exams– a pivotal juncture in their medical careers and regarded as one of the hardest parts of Graduate Medical Education. Luckily, Breanna and Tony decided to try out Hinge to help juggle work with dating. It’s clear that these two had some pretty important personal aspects in common. They met at the Desert Museum for their first date and immediately connected.
You would think that Tony and Breanna would just want to be couch potatoes with their cats when they have time off together, but they’ve just got too much energy for that. They enjoy doing things together that keep them active– working out, hiking, or trying a new adventure (like axe-throwing!).
While on a trip up to Sedona, Tony and Breanna went on a hike. Along the trail, they decided to stop and take a picture together. Perfectly normal, right? Tony set his camera up on a tripod and got back into place next to Breanna. They stood there taking a couple photos as Tony counted aloud so they knew when to smile. Well, what Breanna didn’t know is that the camera wasn’t actually going off… It was set to “record” instead.
Tony told Breanna that he loved her, kissed her on her cheek, and pulled out the ring. “I just want to tell you that I want to spend the rest of my life with you,” and then got down on one knee. Obviously, she said yes! And now they’ve got a sweet video where they can re-watch that special moment all over again, too. “It was magical,” Breanna said.
When they were exploring Gates Pass a few days ago, Breanna had texted me a photo of a spot that she and Tony loved. I have a certain area of Gates Pass that I really enjoy shooting at, but I wanted to make sure to feature the specific area that drew them both here. So that’s where we started off their session! If you look closely in the first photo, you can see the mountains hazily off in the distance.
Breanna and Tony still had one other outfit pairing that they wanted to feature, but the sun was setting fast. So they quickly changed in their car and then followed me to another area of the park. The light was very low at this point and was just covering the ground with that soft golden glow. I thought it was a really fun change from the first location and gave their gallery a nice variety style-wise.
In just under 10 months, I’ll be with Breanna and Tony again on their wedding day at the gorgeous Westin La Paloma Resort in Tucson. I can’t wait!
You can see other sessions from the Gates Pass area of Tucson Mountain Park here!
