Renata and Vincent’s engagement session made me feel like we were back in Spring as opposed to being a few weeks away from Winter. Vibrant outfits and warm weather brought some fun, beautiful color back into the desert landscape. They claimed they were both shy, but we talked the entire time and Vincent let his “goofball” personality shine! Renata loves his craziness and says he makes her smile every day.
Just after high school in 2015, Vincent and Renata attended orientation for new students at the University of New Mexico. A few months after meeting and becoming friends, it was clear that they had feelings for each other. That October, they went on their first date. Sooner than anticipated, however, their paths diverged when Vincent moved back home to California. But that wasn’t the end for them.
Over the next 3 1/2 years, they visited each other as often as possible, committed to making their long-distance relationship work. Once Renata graduated college in 2019, she and Vincent made the decision to move in together. No more being apart. Renata packed up and traveled to Arizona where she would now call Tucson home.
In the summer of 2021, Renata and Vincent went out to the Gates Pass area to test out their new GoPro. They wanted to record a time-lapse video of the sunset out in the desert. Well, more than just the sunset was captured on video that evening! Right at sunset, Vincent proposed and gave Renata some amazing news to share with her family that they were flying out to visit a few days later.
Even though we’re still experiencing temperatures in the 70’s in December, we are technically headed into the winter season. The first day of Winter is just a couple of weeks away. While the desert may not show obvious signs of seasonal changes, the colors of the brush and cacti do fade. As the temperatures drop they become dormant. This dormancy allows them to prepare for growth and flowering in the Spring.
Renata brought the color and vibrancy back into the desert with a fun royal blue dress. She and Vincent loved being able to return back to the area they got engaged for their session!
Renata was excited to change gears and get into her casual outfit. Blue jeans and comfy shoes! I love that she kept the color flowing with her mauve/berry-toned top.
Renata and Vincent will be my first Spring 2023 wedding next year. I’m pumped to kick off a busy wedding season with them at the Stillwell House and Gardens venue in downtown Tucson! Want a preview of where their wedding will take place? Check out other beautiful weddings at the Stillwell House that I’ve photographed over the past couple of years! Can’t wait to see these two again in just 3 months!
