The Little Things: My Love for Reese’s

I’m sure you saw this post pop up and were like, “Christy, what the heck does Reese’s have to do with your job as a wedding photographer in Tucson?!” Well, nothing. And also everything. Do I photograph weddings and couples? Yes! Is that all I do every evening? No! Just like you, there’s way more to me than my job. I love what I do. And I love showing you all the pretty things I get to create for my couples. But I also want to show you who I am when I’m away from my business.

I’m calling these series on my blog “The Little Things”– a title that I feel sports both meanings that I’m going for.

1. Who I am is made up of a whole bunch of little things.

2. Not just one thing makes me happy, but rather a combo of lots of little things.

The History

I couldn’t think of a better “thing” to start this series off with than Reese’s. If you haven’t heard me say this before, I have a HUGE sweet tooth. My tastes have changed over the years and I’ve grown a little less picky about what I’ll eat (although, no malt or white chocolate still remains true haha). But I’ve never lost my love for Reese’s. I am not kidding you when I say my mouth starts watering every time I see that glorious bright orange packaging. Whether it’s egg, pumpkin, or tree-shaped it still tastes the same to me and I still devour it just as quickly.

I can, without a doubt, say that I got my love for Reese’s from my dad. When I was growing up, I always had to take whatever holiday-related Reese’s candy I got and hide it because I knew my dad would be on the prowl for them. I had to protect them! Then, many years later, Hershey’s came out with an AWESOME creation: a monstrous two-cup pack of Reese’s weighing in at one pound total. I got it for my dad for Christmas. And now every year he says if someone doesn’t get it for him he’s going out that same night and buying it himself! I guess I created a monster lol.

Give me ALL the Sweets

Now Reese’s isn’t the only sweet I love. Oreo’s dunked in milk. Tootsie Rolls (which are sadly impossible for me to find at most gas stations). Snickers. Plain M&M’s. Starbursts (red and pink, please). Brownies. Cheesecake. I could keep going on! But those peanut butter-filled chocolaty cups have a special place in my heart. And I think I can thank my dad for that one. When I asked my family members what reminds them of me, not a single one failed to mention Reese’s on their list of little things. Not a one! Hey, there’s worse things to be associated with, right?! Reese’s is a win in my book!

If you don’t have any in your house already (I’m not allowed to keep them in the house haha!), go out, grab a bag, and share them with your loved ones! Every one deserves a bit of sweetness in their daily lives!
