As a wedding photographer, I interact with every vendor that a couple chooses for their wedding day in some way. By the time the wedding reception rolls around, the bride and groom are pretty tired from the day’s events. But hey, the night is just beginning! It’s time to dance and party with all of your guests! There is one key ingredient that always helps them refuel: WEDDING CAKE! It’s beautiful, delicious, and perfect for a playful mini food fight among the couple.

To better help my couples, I have decided to feature wedding vendors in and around Tucson that I not only admire, but also believe in. I want to build a strong sense of community not only among us small business owners but also with the couples that I serve. How long has Jamie-Cakes Bakery Boutique been in business?

10 years!

 

Tell me a bit about you and your business! How did you get started in the wedding industry?

I’ve always had a passion for baking and creating and knew that I wanted to turn my hobby into a full-time career. I literally started my business from scratch (no pun intended)! 🙂 Over the past 10 years, it has evolved from doing a few birthday cakes to over 100 weddings a year!

 

What do you love most about being a cake artist?

I love being able to bring my client’s visions to life and being a part of the most important celebrations that people experience.

 

What should couples know about your process and about working with you?

I strive to provide my couples with a one-of-a-kind custom experience. I want them to enjoy the cake design process and not be stressed about anything. From their initial contact with me to the delivery of their cake, I want my couples to know that they have my personal attention to detail every step of the way.

 

What is your favorite part about working with couples who are planning their wedding day?

Planning a wedding is an exciting process! I love meeting new couples and seeing how excited they are about their wedding cake, and I want it to be everything they are dreaming of!

 

What (or who) inspires your creativity at Jamie-Cakes Bakery?

Every couple and every wedding is unique in its own way. I like to take inspiration from the details in each event. This can be things like  color schemes, table decor, flowers, and the location of the venue itself. All of these things inspire the final design of the wedding cake.

 

How early should couples book you to ensure you’ll be available for their wedding day?

On average, I recommend booking 4-6 months in advance; however, the busier seasons of Fall and Spring can book up to 1 year ahead of time.

 

What is one tip or piece of advice you’d give a couple for their wedding day?

To enjoy the day, the moments, and not rush through it!

 

What makes your approach to cake design at Jamie-Cakes Bakery unique?

Since I pull in inspiration from the overall wedding to create the wedding cake design, each couple’s cake is unique to them and their event. You will rarely find two cakes that I’ve created that are exactly the same.
