When I asked Elisa and Alan how the met, Elisa was so eager to share their story with me! :
“Alan and I met at Applebee’s. He stalked me every night until I went to Paul’s Pub with him to play pool. We challenged each other (because we are BOTH competitive) and whoever lost would have to buy dinner the next night. I lost. So, after Alan’s free meal and another date added to the calendar, we continued to “hang out” every night ‘til about 3 AM. Once I asked Alan to be my boyfriend, we have never been without each other since that first night of pool. Yes, we are attached at the hip.
Alan proposed in front of both sides of our family on Christmas Eve. Then he got down on one knee, sweaty and shaking terribly, and popped the question with everyone in the room. Tears flowed and of course, I said yes.”
You know that you’re in for a high-energy party when the bride and groom decide their wedding colors based off of a football wager. There were lots of jokes thrown around on the wedding day about the Vikings and Cowboys football game. I think it’s safe to say that everyone knew who won! The bridesmaids party sported the colors of the Minnesota Vikings with their vibrant purple gowns and golden bouquets.
Elisa and Alan’s fall wedding at La Mariposa was such a gorgeous day. The Arizona heat had started to let up over the past couple of weeks and there was a nice breeze almost the whole day.
In the weeks leading up to their wedding at La Mariposa, Elisa and Alan were stunned to see the high numbers of RSVP’s coming in from all of their invitees. In fact, they ended up with so many guests that the entire wedding day, including the reception, was moved outside to the beautiful patio and lawn.
These are two of my favorite Getting Ready portraits of Elisa! She’s just so beautiful!
Just look at that train!
Elisa and Alan had an incredible bridal party cheering them on the entire day!
Remembering those that were looking down on them on their special day.
It’s time to say “I Do!”
It’s Official! Mr. and Mrs. Powers!!!
Elisa was so dang excited to walk down the aisle with Alan that I couldn’t share just one of these! This girl was ready to get her dancin’ on!
This is a total candid shot of Elisa before we started family portraits. But she looked too perfect not to share!
Officially one happy family!
Heading off for a few quick couples portraits before the sun set completely and giving hugs along the way.
Now it’s time to dance!!!
I thought this was too funny. Right after they finished their first dance as husband and wife, they did this. It’s like they’re saying “We did it!!!”
I had to hold back tears of my own and Elisa and Alan thanked all of their guests for making their day special, especially in such difficult times.
I always wonder if couples are going to play nice when it comes time to cut the cake. Alan had to back away pretty quickly once Elisa had the cake in her hand, but they both came out mess free!
To end the night, La Mariposa organized a sparkler circle/dance send-off for Elisa and Alan.
This amazing couple knew that they wanted to have an amazing wedding day, but that their family of 6 had to keep their budget in check. I am so honored that they chose to make the investment in me as their wedding photographer and hope that their children Anthony, Madison, Haylee, and Emma love looking back at the photos from their parents’ beautiful wedding day.
Elisa and Alan, you have so much love and support from your friends and family. Your optimism, humor, and selflessness is absolutely beautiful to see. Thank you so much for allowing me to be your wedding photographer!
